with Jordan Bloom
The human body is a marvel of evolution and engineering. It is capable of enormous feats of strength and a virtually infinite array of movement patterns. By some estimations, the structures in our body, if used properly, are designed to keep us going for well over 100 years, but for a lot of us, we have never really learnt what our bodies are capable of and how to use them efficiently and effectively.
Without sufficient strength and range of motion in one part of the body, others parts are forced to compensate, potentially leading to injury and inefficient movement patterns while avoiding underlying problems. In this training, we will take a skillful approach to movement and learn how to mobilize the body in effective and efficient ways. We will learn how to apply alignment and biomechanical understanding to deal with injuries, limitations and chronic conditions both in the classroom and private setting. Using a systems approach we will address flexibility, strength and movement as skills in the body in order to achieve mobility - the freedom to move our bodies as joyful expressions of being human. We will explore aspects of movement such as motor control, the three aspects of flexibility, strength and alignment as skills.
